Vice President of Operations
Position Summary
The Vice President of Operations (VP of Operations) is a senior executive leader responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and service quality across the organization. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP), the VP of Operations partners with Clinical, Medical, Access, IT, Food Services, Facilities, and other senior leaders to ensure alignment with Beacon’s mission and core values: Integrity, Compassion, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.
This role requires a strategic, data-driven leader with strong business acumen, sound judgment, and a proven ability to lead multi-site operations serving individuals with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Leadership
- Provide executive oversight of daily operations to ensure efficiency, stability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive profitability through budget management, cost control, staffing optimization, and occupancy growth.
- Monitor key operational metrics including census, revenue, expenses, quality indicators, satisfaction scores, and compliance measures.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting, month-end processes, and administrative oversight.
- Oversee service contractors and vendor performance to ensure quality and value.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA and medical record standards.
- Maintain regulatory relationships and oversee responses to investigations, inspections, and corrective action plans.
- Implement systems to safeguard documentation, billing accuracy, and operational integrity.
- Establish and maintain disaster preparedness and risk mitigation protocols as needed.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Recruit, hire, develop, and supervise operational leaders and Care Team Managers.
- Build strong succession plans and leadership pipelines.
- Ensure consistent onboarding, training systems, and performance management practices.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, and engagement.
- Lead with fairness and integrity in performance improvement and corrective actions.
Service Quality & Individual Experience
- Ensure programs and services meet the social, emotional, mental, and physical needs of individuals served.
- Monitor quality of care, nutrition services, cleanliness, safety, and satisfaction outcomes.
- Oversee transitions including move-ins, transfers, and discharges.
- Implement systems to assess appropriateness of placements and contract adherence.
Strategic Growth & Advocacy
- Support marketing efforts, referral development, and occupancy strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve service delivery and operational scalability.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives and innovation across operations.
- Represent the organization with professionalism in interactions with families, regulators, hospitals, and community partners.

Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Nursing, Behavioral Health, Business Administration, Social Work, or related field); Master’s degree preferred.
- 5–10 years of leadership experience in AFC, nursing home administration, behavioral health, or multi-site operations.
- Experience overseeing multiple communities or homes required.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing multiple budgets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, medical documentation, compliance standards, and billing practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassion for and commitment to serving individuals with IDD and chronic illnesses.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain required governmental approvals.
Technology Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) required. Ability to learn and adapt to additional organizational systems as deployed.
