Tree Service Specialist (Climber / Grounds / CDL)

Our client is seeking highly capable arborists to execute complex, production-oriented arboricultural work. This role demands adaptability to dynamic daily schedules and a readiness to handle physically demanding, technically challenging, and potentially high-risk tasks, including typical 10-hour production days. The successful candidate will act as a crucial crew member on diverse job sites, managing everything from emergency storm response to advanced rigging.

Based in Whitehouse Station, NJ, this established, family-owned and operated organization specializes in comprehensive tree care and property health. They offer a safety-first culture providing stable, year-round employment. The company invests deeply in its crew members through ongoing paid training and continuing education to support long-term career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical and hazardous tree removals, large-tree pruning, and crane-assisted tree removals.
  • Utilize traditional and advanced rigging techniques while working safely around structures, utilities, and high-value targets.
  • Operate and maintain essential tree-care equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and mini-skids.
  • Adapt to changing job-site conditions and respond effectively to storm damage or emergency situations.
  • Maintain a strict respect for safety protocols while working alongside the crew to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Commit to longer production days when necessary to meet operational requirements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the tree service industry.
  • A true production-oriented arboriculture background, rather than exclusively light residential work or ornamental pruning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency operating chainsaws, chippers, and mini-skids.
  • Strong physical capability, reliable attendance, and a work ethic driven by hustle and urgency.
  • A coachable mindset with the ability to take direction and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Nice to have: A Class A CDL, or specialized experience in climbing, bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and crane-assisted jobs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Climber / Aerial Lift Operator: $35.00 – $45.00 per hour.
  • Grounds Crew (CDL): $26.00 – $35.00 per hour.
  • Grounds Crew (Non-CDL): $22.00 – $25.00 per hour.
  • Stable, year-round work with top pay structured on individual experience and skill level.
  • Paid time off, including dedicated PTO and vacation days.
  • Paid training and continuous education opportunities for arboriculture career advancement.
