Job Description: The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida’s 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.As an Academic Programs Assistant at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for assisting in the development of a database of science teachers across the State of Florida and southeast to connect with UFHCI and Cancer Training & Education Program resources and conferences as well as other similar program support activities.In your new role you will be responsible for the following:Researching and organizing information.Data entry for teacher records.Communicating with teachers across the catchment area. * Supporting programmatic activities including program events, communications, etc.This position is ideal for students with an interest in exploring a career in administration in a higher education institution, research, healthcare, or similar industries. Expected Salary:$15 hourly
Minimum Requirements: This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.Successful pre-employment screening including a background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge/Experience: Experience in a professional office environment, particularly in higher education, healthcare, research, or similar, preferredCurrently seeking a degree in Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, or appropriately relevant fieldQualities:
- Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods and information.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, especially proof-reading and public speaking.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to distinguish and properly manage confidential information and protected data, including sensitive documents, PHI, etc.
- Appropriate organization and communication skills to support collaborative work across teams and functions.
- Success using the Microsoft Office suite.
