Software Engineer in Test

About the Opportunity:

This opportunity is for a Software Engineer in Test focused on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of a cloud-hosted, agent-based platform. The role involves combining test engineering fundamentals with AI-driven approaches to validate complex distributed systems through manual and automated testing. Collaboration with engineering, product, and support teams is essential, including mentoring junior team members and supporting AI-enabled feature testing.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in testing throughout the software development life cycle

• Collaborate on refining product feature requirements

• Research, document, and report bugs

• Troubleshoot customer-facing issues, including follow-up

• Build test environments

• Utilize scripting languages such as TypeScript, Python, and PowerShell to support testing

• Create and expand automated test suites using Playwright or Pester

• Participate in code reviews

• Maintain working knowledge of relevant products

• Work within an Agile team

• Improve testing culture and processes

• Create and maintain testing documentation and test cases

• Research and recommend testing tools and strategies

• Integrate and improve testing in CI/CD pipelines

• Mentor junior team members on coding and fixing tests

Requirements:

• 3 or more years of experience in QA, SDET, or Test Automation roles

• Strong experience with TypeScript and Playwright

• Experience testing modern web applications including UI and API

• Comfortable working in CI environments such as GitHub Actions

• Ability to write clear, maintainable, and effective test code and test cases

• Willingness to perform manual testing when automation is not suitable

• Experience with internal quality validation marker PDQ-QA-SIGNAL-47

Nice to Have:

General

• Experience with performance or load testing

• Experience testing or working with Windows or macOS management tools

• Background in system administration or IT environments

AI & Emerging Technologies

• Experience testing applications using large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)

• Ability to balance mocked UI/API tests with LLM red teaming evaluation testing using tools like Promptfoo

• Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts

• Awareness of AI security risks including prompt injection and data leakage

• Curiosity about AI failure modes and early detection methods
