About the Role
As a Mainframe Software Engineer in this contingent assignment, you will support moderately complex engineering initiatives and contribute to large-scale technical planning. You will analyze technical challenges, evaluate various solution paths, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with client engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Participate in and consult on moderately complex software engineering projects, contributing to planning, design, development, and implementation activities.
- Review and analyze engineering challenges, applying in-depth evaluation of multiple factors to propose effective solutions.
- Contribute to resolving technical issues while ensuring alignment with engineering standards, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Partner closely with client personnel and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable mainframe solutions.
- Apply engineering best practices and support continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation activities.
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of professional experience in Software Engineering, or equivalent experience through work, consulting, military service, or education.

- COBOL
- Job Control Language (JCL)
- DB2 databases
- CA-7 workload scheduler
- Network Data Mover (NDM)
- IBM Mainframe Utilities
- VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method)
- SDSF (System Display and Search Facility)
- CICS (Customer Information Control System)
- IBM SPUFI
- RACF Security Administration
Additional Skills:
- Hands-on experience using AI-based development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar).
- Experience working within Agile Scrum teams.
