Software Engineer
Senior Software Engineer | Stealth AI Startup | SF Bay Area | $180K–$240K + Equity
One of the most exciting early-stage AI companies I’ve worked with in years just opened up a Senior Software Engineer role, and I wanted to get this in front of the right people before it fills up quietly.
This is a top-tier VC-backed startup built by founders who’ve taken companies from zero to IPO, led exits to Fortune 500s, and scaled publicly traded firms to multi-billion valuations.
The product sits at the intersection of web applications and modern AI, and the engineering bar here is genuinely high.
What the role looks like:
You’ll be building end-to-end, from frontend through distributed backend systems, with real ownership from day one. Think production-grade APIs, LLM-powered features (RAG, agents, structured outputs), and cloud-native architecture that actually has to scale.
You’ll be one of the core engineering hires, so your fingerprints will be on the product and the culture for years to come.
You’ll be a strong fit if:
You’ve shipped in an early-stage environment before (or have been itching to). You’re LLM-practical, meaning you’ve built RAG pipelines or agents in production, not just in tutorials. You think in SLOs, blast radius, and data model tradeoffs.
You care deeply about API ergonomics, security, and systems that don’t fall over. Curiosity isn’t something you switch on for interviews; it’s just how you operate.
Tech context: Python or Go backends, modern TypeScript on the front, cloud-native infra, vector DBs, embeddings pipelines. AI tooling is central to the stack, not bolted on.
Compensation: $180K to $240K base, meaningful equity, strong benefits, and real long-term upside as an early team member.
