Job Description

About the Team (ARES)

Alert Routing and Enrichment Service (ARES) reduces alert noise at scale through correlation, asset enrichment, and intelligent suppressions. We process millions of events to deliver actionable, low-latency signals to incident responders across Oracle’s global platforms.

Role Overview

We’re hiring an IC2 Software Engineer with strong Java and Spring Boot, Micronaut or Helidon skills to build high-throughput, event-driven services. You’ll design and deliver streaming-based pipelines (Kafka/OCI Streaming Service), implement alert correlation and enrichment logic, and evolve our EDA architecture for resilience, performance, and observability. You’ll collaborate closely with SRE and platform teams, participate in on-call, and help set engineering best practices for scalable, secure services.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and operate Spring Boot, Micronaut and Helidon microservices for high-volume alert routing, enrichment, correlation, and suppression.

  • Develop and optimize streaming data flows using Kafka and/or OCI Streaming Service.

  • Implement event-driven patterns and robust RESTful APIs for internal integrations.

  • Ensure reliability at scale, fault tolerance, resiliency patterns, caching, rate limiting, and performance tuning for low latency and high throughput.

  • Advance service observability (metrics, logs, traces, SLOs, alert quality dashboards) and improve signal-to-noise ratio.

  • Contribute to infrastructure automation (Terraform) and cloud-native runtime (Kubernetes), including CI/CD and progressive delivery.

  • Write clean, well-tested code, perform design/peer reviews, document systems and runbooks.

  • Collaborate with product, SRE, partner engineering teams and participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • 3 to 5 years of backend software development experience, with significant time in Java or another programming language (Kotlin, Go) and Spring Boot or similar frameworks building microservices in production.

  • Hands-on experience with streaming platforms (Kafka and/or OCI Streaming Service) and event-driven architectures.

  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals.

  • Proficiency with REST API design, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT), validation, error handling, and API documentation.

  • Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation (Terraform/Ansible).

  • Skilled in debugging, performance profiling, and optimizing services in distributed, high-throughput environments.

  • Comfortable partnering with SRE/DevOps teams and participating in on-call.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating large-scale cloud services (OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Familiarity with stream processing frameworks (Kafka/Oracle Streams) and data quality/validation in pipelines.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD, secure coding, secrets management, and compliance best practices.

  • Exposure to Kubernetes is a plus but not required.

  • US citizenship and eligibility for security clearance are nice to have, not mandatory.

Why ARES ?

  • Build mission-critical, low-latency systems that materially reduce operational noise and MTTR.

  • Work at the core of observability and reliability for global-scale platforms.

  • Learn and grow alongside experienced engineers and SREs using modern cloud-native tooling.

  • Competitive compensation, great benefits, and clear opportunities for advancement.
