Our client, a growing renewable energy platform focused on commercial and industrial clean-energy solutions, is seeking an SVP of Commercial Development to lead national growth across solar and battery-storage portfolios. This executive will drive strategy, oversee origination, and lead commercial execution while building a high-performing team capable of scaling a rapidly expanding business.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the commercial development strategy and manage annual bookings, margin, and pipeline objectives across C&I and public-sector segments.
- Lead origination efforts, develop key customer and partner relationships, and expand channel engagement across priority U.S. markets.
- Structure and negotiate distributed generation deals including PPAs, leases, EPC contracts, and portfolio transactions.
- Oversee proposal development, pricing strategy, and commercial positioning for complex, multi-site opportunities.
- Partner closely with engineering, finance, and operations to ensure projects are investment-grade, buildable, and aligned with customer requirements.
- Build, mentor, and scale a national development team with strong process discipline, forecasting, and CRM rigor.
- Represent the platform with senior decision makers, industry stakeholders, and strategic partners.
Ideal Background
- 12 years of experience in renewable energy, energy services, or distributed generation.
- Significant experience developing or originating C&I solar and/or storage projects.
- Strong negotiation background with a track record closing multi-MW or multi-site DG portfolios.
- Deep understanding of project economics, risk allocation, capital structures, and the development lifecycle.
- Executive leadership experience in high-growth or integrated platforms.
