About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team. This position is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations including bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has excellent organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily bookkeeping activities and ensure accurate and timely entry of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account classifications.
  • Proficient in reconciling accounts and general ledger management
  • Ability to process payroll accurately and timely
  • Manage A/R functions including invoicing, payment application, aging reports, and collections follow-up.
  • Process A/P transactions including invoice entry, vendor payments, and account reconciliation.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and financial reporting.
  • Assist with audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and resolve discrepancies.
  • Help improve processes and implement accounting best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance procedures
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA certification is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of relevant accounting experience (ideally including some in a similar CPG/retail environment).
  • Experience handling complex reconciliations, multi-channel revenue recognition, inventory accounting, and sales tax compliance.
  • Comfort managing month-end close independently and preparing draft financial statements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Job Information

Full-Time Role

Compensation: $75K + bonus

Location: Hybrid — must be based in the NJ/NYC area and able to commute to our New Jersey office (when requested)
