Senior Software Engineer – Austin

Requirements

Must have:

– Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering – Strong expertise in Node.js, particularly with frameworks like Nest.js – Extensive knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, Fargate, ECS, and EKS – Proficiency in both relational and non-relational databases (Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB, MySQL) – Proven history of managing multi-team projects and complex systems – Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence – Comfort with agile development methodologies and rapid iteration processes – AI-savvy with willingness to travel occasionally (1-2 times quarterly) – Experience in high-growth startup environments is a plus – Background in mentoring engineers and collaborating across teams is desirable – Interest in travel, hospitality, or technology-driven operations is advantageous

Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical direction for significant product areas – Collaborate across departments to define project scopes, align on requirements, and establish objectives – Mentor junior engineers, facilitate discussions, and uplift team performance – Delegate tasks effectively to enhance team productivity – Coordinate efforts among various teams and stakeholders – Make architectural decisions that influence the entire software stack — including frameworks, APIs, and data flows – Execute system-wide initiatives such as stress testing and GraphQL integration – Attain deep understanding of the platform and guide its ongoing development – Write and review high-quality, thoroughly tested code – Oversee systems comprehensively, ensuring reliability, performance, and uptime – Establish service level agreements (SLAs) and define scalable system patterns – Predict future challenges in scaling, reliability, and feature development – Contribute to long-term engineering and product planning – Advocate for best practices and promote a solution-focused team culture – Drive architectural enhancements and encourage adoption of new technologies across teams
