Senior Software Engineer – AI Platform

Requirements

Must have:

– We require 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally gained in financial services, payments, fintech, or another regulated sector. – We need strong hands-on experience in at least one modern backend stack; we use TypeScript/Node and Python, so fluency in one and working capability in both is important. – We are looking for production experience with payments, card issuing, ledgers, KYC/AML systems, banking-as-a-service integrations, or comparable regulated financial infrastructure. – We value strong intuition for distributed systems, idempotency, reconciliation, reliability, and correctness where real money is involved. – We require practical production experience with LLM-based systems, not only experimental prototypes. – We expect familiarity with one or more of the following: RAG pipelines, agent frameworks, MCP servers, prompt engineering, evals, AI observability, or AI-assisted engineering workflows. – We need comfort working in regulated environments where auditability, change control, operational resilience, and accountability are essential. – We look for the ability to partner directly with non-engineering colleagues and turn complex operational or regulatory needs into robust systems. – We value curiosity about product, compliance, operations, finance, and the commercial realities of building a fintech. – Experience with Postgres at scale, infrastructure as code such as Terraform, event-driven systems, multi-entity or multi-jurisdiction platforms, or regulatory/data residency constraints is a plus. – Exposure to financial crime, transaction monitoring, complaints, reconciliation, partner oversight, or internal platforms for regulated decision-making would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

• We want you to own significant backend delivery across our US launch and UK migration, from architecture through production operation. – We expect you to design services that are secure, observable, recoverable, and auditable by default. – We need you to build and run internal AI platform components, including agent runtimes, connector layers, prompt and skill versioning, evaluation harnesses, and audit logs. – We want you to define the standard for how our engineers use AI tools in their day-to-day work. – You will translate regulatory, compliance, finance, operations, and product requirements into production-ready systems. – You will identify workflows where agents can prepare work for human approval, reducing manual effort while preserving control. – You will help execute the migration of thousands of live UK customers onto new banking infrastructure. – You will contribute to safeguarding, payment rails, customer-notice timing, operational resilience, and clean cutover design during regulated migrations. – You will work directly with card processors, sponsor banks, and other payment infrastructure partners to ensure integrations are robust, observable, auditable, and adaptable. – You will mentor other engineers and support hiring as we grow deliberately. – You will collaborate across functions in a small senior team and help shape how engineering, product, operations, compliance, and analysis work together.
