Senior Data Engineer – Bethesda
Requirements
Must have:
– Minimum of 5 years experience in data engineering or related fields – Strong hands-on proficiency with Python, SQL, and dbt – Expertise in orchestration tools such as Dagster, Prefect, or Airflow – Experience in developing data ingestion pipelines from REST APIs, flat files, and cloud storage solutions like S3 – Familiarity with Snowflake and its ecosystem, including warehouses, cost optimization, RBAC, and data sharing – Solid understanding of metadata, observability, and testing protocols for data pipelines – Strong collaborative skills with stakeholders, valuing clean, discoverable data – Bonus: Previous experience in pharma, healthcare, or regulated data environments – Bonus: Experience with unstructured data and AI Data Engineering (e.g., OCR, NER, vector databases, graph databases)
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, install, test, and maintain scalable data management systems – Ensure systems align with business needs and industry standards – Develop high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proofs of concept – Explore opportunities for data acquisition and innovative uses of existing data – Create data set processes for data modeling, mining, and production – Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into current systems – Create bespoke software components and analytics applications – Install and update disaster recovery procedures – Collaborate with data architects, modelers, and IT team members on project objectives – Utilize various programming languages and tools to integrate systems – Recommend strategies to enhance data reliability, efficiency, and quality – Use Dagster or similar tools for crafting data pipelines and workflows
