Senior Cloud Engineer

Reporting To:Chief Technology Officer

Summary

Invessio is building an interconnected, compliance-ready fintech platform designed to simplify the capital lifecycle by replacing fragmented systems and manual workflows with secure, scalable technology, seamless data flow, greater transparency, and actionable reporting. Reliable cloud infrastructure is foundational to delivering that experience and maintaining the security, availability, performance, and operational control expected of a financial technology platform.

The Cloud Engineer supports this mission by designing, automating, securing, monitoring, and optimizing Invessio’s Microsoft Azure cloud environment. The role builds resilient infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code, reduces operational risk through automation, supports SOC 2 and security requirements, and ensures cloud services remain performant, recoverable, and cost-effective. The Cloud Engineer works closely with Development, DevOps, Security, Operations, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure supports application requirements and organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, provision, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure across compute, storage, networking, and supporting cloud services.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to create repeatable, version-controlled, and auditable cloud environments.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment, and recurring operational tasks using PowerShell, CI/CD pipelines, and related automation tools.
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls, including Microsoft Entra ID/IAM, role-based access control, network security groups, encryption, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance teams to ensure cloud environments and operational practices support SOC 2 requirements, internal controls, audit evidence, vulnerability management, and applicable fintech security standards.
  • Implement observability using metrics, centralized logging, dashboards, and alerting to monitor availability, latency, performance, utilization, and infrastructure health.
  • Analyze cloud performance and resource utilization and tune configurations to improve reliability, scalability, and application performance.
  • Manage and optimize Azure cloud costs through resource right-sizing, reservations, spot capacity where appropriate, lifecycle management, utilization analysis, and ongoing spend reviews.
  • Design, maintain, and test backup, restore, redundancy, failover, and disaster-recovery capabilities aligned with recovery objectives and business continuity requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud issues across networking, compute, storage, identity, security, infrastructure, and application layers.
  • Collaborate with Development, DevOps, QA, Security, Support, and business stakeholders to align infrastructure architecture and capacity with application, release, security, and organizational needs.
  • Maintain technical documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, infrastructure code, operational procedures, recovery processes, and environment standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cloud reliability, automation, security, scalability, observability, and operational efficiency while reducing manual work and human error.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or systems engineering experience, with substantial experience administering and deploying Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices, including reusable modules, version control, environment management, and automated deployments.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell and experience developing scripts and automation for cloud infrastructure and operational tasks.
  • Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines and integrating infrastructure deployment into automated delivery workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking, compute, storage, identity, Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, network security controls, encryption, and secrets-management practices.
  • Experience implementing cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability using Azure-native or comparable monitoring platforms.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security, least-privilege access, vulnerability management, change control, auditability, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2.
  • Experience designing and supporting backup, disaster recovery, high availability, redundancy, and business-continuity solutions in cloud environments.
  • Understanding of cloud financial management and cost-optimization practices, including resource right-sizing, reservations, utilization analysis, and spend monitoring.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, compute, storage, identity, security, and application infrastructure.
  • Experience working in fintech, financial services, SaaS, or another security-sensitive or regulated technology environment preferred.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or comparable cloud/infrastructure certifications preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
