Project Engineer

York, Pennsylvania

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the manufacturing launch of new products for key customers.
  • Develop, manage, and track project budgets and timelines.
  • Communicate project status to customers, ensuring trust, confidence, and the NSC reputation as a top-tier supplier.
  • Provide project updates to internal stakeholders, cross-functional team members, and NSC leadership at each milestone of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Proactively identify and resolve project risks, including technical, cost, safety, and timing risks.
  • Engineer and implement new manufacturing processes to ensure products meet print specifications consistently.
  • Create and maintain engineering data and documents, including drawings, Bills-of-Material, Routings, Standard Rates, Process FMEA, Work Instructions, and Quality Control Plans.
  • Collaborate with Tooling Engineers and Designers to design, build, and validate tooling and quality control gauges.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and contribute to the development of new manufacturing technologies or processes.

Job-Specific Competencies

  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including Laser Cutting, Press Brake, Metal Stamping, MIG and Projection Welding, and Complex Assemblies
  • Expertise in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD sheet metal design, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems and drive process improvement
  • Strong relationship-building skills

Experience And Education Required

  • BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Direct manufacturing experience and proficiency in the skills outlined above
  • 5-7 years Project management experience

  • Sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs required
  • Travel up to 20%
