Professional Billing Applications Analyst I: IT Epic
JOB DESCRIPTION Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- The Application Analyst is responsible for configuring, testing, implementing, and supporting the clinical, financial, or administrative, and/or other healthcare information systems used for the delivery of patient care and/or other supporting functions of the organization.
- Oversees practices and processes to ensure integrity, safety, and availability of all data and applications, supporting the goals and objectives of the customer as well as the business needs of Hoag.
Key Functions Include:
- Collaborating with key stakeholders, end users, and other members of the business teams to optimize system configuration, function and access.
- Evaluate problem tickets and service requests, customer requests for system changes, data retrieval requests, system performance problems and optimization opportunities, and participate in the timely resolution of these activities.
- Responsible for the build and maintenance of various system dictionaries, profiles, tables and other configuration points.
- Identifies system enhancement requests and works with the team to implement as applicable.
- Coordinates with the vendor as appropriate.
- Tests the system, including any configurations, customizations and new releases, prior to production implementation.
- Works with end-users to assist with the design and testing of system reports and communicate changes to end users and other staff as applicable.
- Participates as a team member in various projects.
- Prepares for and participates in system design, validation and/or remediation sessions
- Performs all the functions above with supervision as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Lab Department
- Responsible for change control, testing and validation to ensure integrity and accuracy of inbound, instrument, billing and results interfaces including results display in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Ensures compliance with IT-related requirements of the College of American Pathologists and other applicable regulatory agencies.
Supply Chain Contracts Analyst
- Serves as a liaison between Hoag contract owners and contractors.
- Negotiates, monitors and implements and processes supply and purchase service contracts.
- Serves as an internal consultant regarding contract language and analysis.
- Maintains contract data base for documentation of contracts.
- Manages internal workflow and contract approval process.
- Responsible for annual review of contract performance including expenses, key performance indicators against contractual obligations and regulatory guidelines healthcare applications.
- Works with legal staff to ensure areas of risk/exposure to the corporation are addressed.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred:
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Two years’ experience with the application, module or equivalent system as assigned.
- Two years’ experience working in a Health Care Application Services department, preferably in an integrated health system environment within an acute care environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or Google Workplace tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
- Professional Billing or Finance experience.
Required:
- Familiar with health care contracting and supply chain contacts for services and supplies.
- At least one year experience with contract management in a health care system.
- Experience in hospital environment.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree Business, Supply Chain or related field.
- At least two years’ experience with contract management in a health care system.
