2. About the Opportunity:
The Product Owner plays a key role in executing product strategy by bridging vision and delivery. This position manages three critical areas: the design system and accessibility standards, the AI product roadmap, and platform stability. The role demands end-to-end ownership from specification through rollout, working closely with engineering, design, and internal stakeholders to deliver impactful product outcomes.
3. Responsibilities:
- Write detailed product requirement documents and specs for epics, translating strategic goals into clear user stories with acceptance criteria
- Prioritize tasks in collaboration with leadership to align with roadmap and product development processes
- Refine and sequence the engineering backlog to maintain a well-prepared workflow
- Triage product issues and integrate bugs into the backlog as needed
- Ensure high quality and readiness for release through a strong definition of done
- Collaborate with design to create wireframes and clickable prototypes for concept validation and engineering handoff
- Maintain UX consistency, accessibility, and quality within the design system
- Own product areas from discovery to rollout, accountable for outcomes beyond task completion
- Act as primary contact for development teams to resolve product questions and avoid delays
- Support roadmap execution by delivering user stories and epics on time and to quality standards
- Monitor post-release performance and iterate based on feedback and metrics
- Represent customer and product perspectives in team meetings and cross-functional discussions
- Communicate updates and releases to internal teams including Customer Success, Sales, and Support
- Gather feedback from customers and internal teams to refine backlog and inform future development
- Support early-stage product implementations as a product expert and clarify functionality
- Assist the product team flexibly to respond to changing priorities and maximize product value
4. Requirements:
- 1–3+ years as a Product Owner or Product Manager in an Agile SaaS environment with experience managing backlogs and shipping software
- Technical or analytical background with the ability to engage in engineering discussions and interpret data
- Proven collaboration with engineering teams, earning trust through clear communication and follow-through
- Experience writing detailed specs and product requirement documents, beyond basic user stories
- Ability to create wireframes or clickable prototypes using tools like Figma
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, resourceful approach
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
5. Preferred Skills:
- Experience in higher education or education technology and familiarity with university administrative workflows
- Client-facing experience working with external customers or implementation teams
- Exposure to AI/ML product development
6. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
- Base salary: $90,000 to $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications
- Performance-based variable compensation, with total on-target earnings of $100,000 to $130,000 upon meeting objectives
