Precision Cold Heading OperatorPicture your evening kicking off at 2:15 PM on a clean, fast-paced plant floor in Richmond, Illinois. You review the job packet, verify tooling, and bring a cold header or hot former online. As parts flow, you fine-tune alignments, check dimensions with micrometers and calipers, and log results. Between runs, you keep machines dialed in, tackle quick adjustments, and partner with Quality and Maintenance to stay on spec. When the shift winds down at 12:45 AM, your line is ready for the next crew—organized, safe, and running strong.What You’ll Do

  • Run cold heading, hot forming, and related forming equipment to produce precision components.
  • Complete set-ups and tweak tooling/alignment to meet rate and quality targets.
  • Inspect in-process and finished parts using gauges, calipers, and micrometers; conduct visual checks.
  • Monitor cycle performance, address minor mechanical issues, and prevent downtime.
  • Capture production and inspection data accurately in logs or digital systems.
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventative tasks to keep equipment in peak condition.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Maintenance to resolve process or equipment concerns.
  • Champion safe work practices at all times.

Schedule, Location, and Pay

  • Work Location: Richmond, Illinois (On-Site)
  • Shift: 2nd, 2:15 PM — 12:45 AM
  • Training: 4–6 months on 1st shift, 6:00 AM — 4:30 PM
  • Compensation: $22.50 per hour to start; increases to $25.00 after training and on 2nd shift

What You’ll Bring

  • Solid mechanical aptitude with a practical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to read part prints and follow production specs.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Consistency, attention to detail, and composure under deadline pressure.
  • Basic troubleshooting and adjustment skills on production equipment.
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or production environments.
  • Comfort working physically—standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Willingness to work assigned shift and overtime as needed.
  • Competent with basic math and reading comprehension.

Preferred Background

  • Experience operating cold headers or hot formers.
  • Exposure to lean/5S or continuous improvement practices.
  • Background in metal forming or automotive manufacturing.
