Phlebotomist (Per Diem)
Primary Function Responsible for performing all forms of phlebotomy procedures including registration on any age level process specimens to ensure stability perform order entry procedures to ensure accuracy of patienttesting information and provide all laboratory results to providers Responsibilities Obtain blood samples by performing venipunctures finger sticks and heel sticks on any age level Use aseptic techniques and follow established procedures Enter all patient information into the correct hospital system verifying patient demographics updating and verifying all patient insurance and administering ABNs as needed Organize and distribute workload in phlebotomy including routine time specific or stat orders to ensure timely results to provider Order tests in computer and if needed contact the physician on questions relating to test requests FileScan scripts and insurance information and prepare reports for delivery to Doctors office if needed Prepare samples for courier pickup andor deliver samples to the appropriate department to ensure specimen integrity Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed in order to provide continuous service minimizing downtime Clean and maintain phlebotomy work areas carts etc utilizing established procedures Assist with the training of new employees Perform phlebotomy responsibilities at assigned locations determined by the manager to meet the needs of the department Perform all other related duties as assigned Job Qualifications and Specifications A high school diploma and a minimum of six months job related experience or equivalent is required All employees hired during or after 2012 must have Phlebotomy certification Care New England Health System CNE and its member institutionsButler Hospital Women & Infants Hospital Kent Hospital VNA of Care New England Integra The Providence Center and Care New England Medical Group and our Wellness Centerare trusted organizations fueling the latest advances in medical research attracting the nations top specialty trained doctors and honing renowned services and innovative programs to engage in the important discussions people need to have about their health Americans with Disability Act Statement External and internal applicants as well as position incumbents who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job specific functions either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by the organization on a case by case basis EEOC Statement Care New England is an equal opportunity employer All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race color religion sex sexual orientation gender identity national origin veteran or disability status Ethics Statement Employee conducts himselfherself consistent with the ethical standards of the organization including but not limited to hospital policy mission vision and values
