Job Description

As a member of the Painter F Group, you will be responsible for performing multiple tasks in any combination and concentration of the mentioned areas and will rotate through all or most of the processes rather than being assigned to a specific task. Painters must be able to work as part of a team having responsibility for numerous components and other duties as assigned.

Desired Skill Sets:

  • Auto Body, Electrostatic Painter and conventional set up experience
  • I-CAR or ASE course completion
  • Demonstrates safety mindset
  • Demonstrates leadership and actively participates in teaming (Star Point, continuous improvement projects, meeting roles, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to train others
  • Demonstrated capacity to learn new tasks quickly
  • Demonstrates a high standard of personal conduct

What will your typical day look like?

Final Paint may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Dry sanding, masking, unmasking, stencil, finish painting, seal and touch up.
  • Must be familiar with standard paint equipment and must be able to set up and adjust equipment to obtain the desired spray patterns.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper environmental & safety practices when setting up and cleaning equipment.
  • Be able to identify defects such as runs, sags, dry spray, orange peel etc. and determine the probable cause and demonstrate repair techniques.
  • Work with all facility employees on improving manufacturing processes through prototyping, fabrication and experimental machining to develop and prove concepts and design and implement necessary fixtures and tooling for manufacturing improvements.
  • Promote climate of cooperation, leading by example mentoring others in safety, environmental, quality, lean and high-performance work team philosophies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with plastic fillers such as Bondo, icing, etc.
  • Willingness to work with team mates to achieve the highest paint standard possible.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Must be able to complete some operations at heights up to 20 ft. utilizing an aerial work platform.
  • Must be able to climb and complete some work on ladders.
  • Must be able to lift material up to 40 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have ability to properly use and care for assigned tools and equipment.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of industrial/automotive paint experience OR related technical/vocational school experience.

  • Must be able to read blueprints, schematics and manufacturing instructions in a sufficient manner to complete the assigned assembly tasks.

  • Must be able to adhere to standards, do a quality job in a safe manner and within acceptable time.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, hats, ear plugs, and safety shoes.

  • Must be willing to work in a tobacco free environment.

  • Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screen (both for initial hire and ongoing random screens).

  • Must be able to work occasional weekend shifts.

  • Must be able to work scheduled overtime.

  • Must demonstrate ability to spray clear within 1 month.

Training pay will be $27.61/hour and will be increased to $32.24/hour (up to $33.54/hour after 6-month progression and $34.61/hr at 4 years of service) when successfully pass the training assessment after orientation (typically 4 weeks). There is an additional $1/hour night shift differential if/when working 2nd shift hours.

Available shifts:

  • 4 day, 10 hour work week: 4-day (Monday through Thursday), 10-hour shift work week. 1st shift hours are 5:00AM — 3:30PM and 2nd shift hours are 3:15PM — 1:45AM. Must be able to work scheduled shift hours.
  • 3-day, 36 hour ( 4 bonus hours) work week: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 5:00AM — 5:30PM. Must be able to work scheduled shift hours.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
