Now in its eighteenth year of operation, WCHS has grown to serve approximately 963 students in grades nine through twelve. The school’s mission is to unite youth, families, staff, teachers, and the community at large in providing young people with the tools necessary to make sense of the world and prepare them for their journey to become skilled workers and literate citizens of the world. Young people will accomplish this through their participation in a rigorous and demanding liberal arts education that includes language, literature, writing, science, history, mathematics, the arts, technology, CTE, and the exploration of disciplines designed to teach fairness, justice, respect and compassion for themselves and others, as well as the skills of critical thinking, communication and research. Moreover, WCHS students mature intellectually, socially, and morally as a result of being an active member of a school community that endorses high expectations and challenges each student to achieve their full potential. We take pride in supporting our faculty and staff with enhanced instructional support, a range of professional development opportunities, and the opportunity to be part of a passionate team of colleagues who collaborate and share knowledge with one another. Two instructional coaches observe classes and work one on one with each teacher in a non-evaluative capacity. Instruction leadership staff provides specific support and feedback to help each teacher to enhance their skills and grow in their profession. We incentivize teachers with a pay increase when a new degree is earned during employment. Each grade level is supported by a team that includes a Social-emotional Academy Leader, an Intervention & Family Support Counselor, an academic Guidance Counselor, and a Student Life Associate. These grade teams support teachers in the care and discipline of students. To fulfill its mission, WCHS is looking for exceptional teachers to play a critical role in realizing the school’s educational design philosophy and unique youth-centered approach.Qualifications, Education, and CredentialsNew York State certification Grade 7-12At least one year of experience teaching in an urban high school settingNew York State fingerprint-based background clearanceSalary $63,000 – $90,000Program Williamsburg Charter High School programs are individualized to connect to each student’s particular level of development, including English Language Learners and students with Special Education Services.
