If you want to use your skills to build a healthier, more resilient community, we encourage you to apply.This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) – Office of Mental Health, Aiken Barnwell Mental Health Center, 1135 Gregg Highway, Aiken, SC 29801.The Mental Health Professional II / Adult Outpatient Chief (Aiken) will provide leadership and management of the Adult Services staff and ensures delivery of quality and evidence-based services to patients.Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional II / Adult Outpatient Chief (Aiken):

  • Provide leadership and management for Adult services ensuring agency outcomes are met (patient care hours, collaborative

documentation, access, DLA-20, Level of Care, etc.). * Provide direct services to assigned patients as outlined on EPMS planning stage.

  • Ensure caseload guidelines are met for staff, department and center and that patients receive care based on LOC.
  • Ensure documentation meets federal, state and CARF guidelines.
  • Network with community to educate about mental health, access to treatment and services provided by ABMHC.
  • Complies with Corporate Compliance and Risk Management plans.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a competent, diverse, motivated and productive workforce.
  • Pursue professional development through collegial consultation and continuing educational activities and professional licensure in SC.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A Masters’ degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service, or social service

program. * Must be licensed in SC or if unlicensed working towards licensure within 6 months of hire date.

  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a mental health professional and in accordance with quality assurance standards and with concurrence by Office of Mental Health Quality Management.

Additional Requirements:

  • In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience. Please be sure to provide specific clinical activities on your application and/or resume.
  • Ability to lift 5 pounds and operate a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

  • Have experience/skills/knowledge in provision of services, assessment, interviewing techniques.
  • Have knowledge of and experience providing evidence-based interventions.
  • Have considerable experience working with adults diagnosed with serious & persistent mental illnesses, substance use, and community support programs.
  • Have the ability to effectively plan, coordinate & manage complex treatment and workflow.
  • Have knowledge of legal and ethical practices.
  • Have a high degree of independence, self-motivation & cultural sensitivity will be expected.
  • Employee’s activities are governed by ABMHC and OMH policy and procedure.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
