DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for safe and efficient large-scale formulations, and analysis of ThermoFisher Scientific products. Duties include cleaning, assembling and disassembling equipment, maintaining a safe & clean working environment, involvement in process development, and achieving production goals relative to schedule and quality. Occasional assistance in other departments such as Quality Control, Packaging, and other departments may also be required. Process documentation is maintained in the form of batch record sheets, reports and lab notebooks. All operations are conducted under the direction of senior personnel, with emphasis on safety and within the guidelines and requirements of ISO production environments.
Key Responsibilities:

Focus on the manufacturing of large-scale formulations of Thermo Fisher Scientific products in 50, 100, 500, and 5000 liter tanks in a laboratory and clean room environment

Execute production procedures according to established protocols under the direction of senior personnel

Perform in-process analysis of formulations using common methods: (pH, UV/VIS, etc.)

Assist in the continuous improvement of production and test methods

Participate on cross-functional project teams such as PPI, 5S, Lean, and the introduction of new products

Participate on projects or other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
-
A thorough understanding of chemistry and general laboratory at an undergraduate level
-
Ability to organize/process several tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment is imperative

B.S. /B.A. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences or >5 years of relevant work experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. In addition, mechanical aptitude highly desired

Ability to routinely lift 50-60 lbs, drum and large-scale solids handling, and the set-up and use of large-scale equipment

The ability to manipulate moderately heavy equipment use such as drum carts, gas cylinders, balances and filled carboys.

Associates in this position may as part of their job activities generate or manage hazardous waste as defined by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Individuals in this position are required to receive initial hazardous waste training within the first 30 working days of assignment. The initial waste training shall include but not be limited to the following general categories: Identifying hazardous and solid waste, hazardous waste management, recycling, treatment and disposal, emergency preparedness, record keeping, pollution prevention, and waste reduction. Following initial training, the Associate in this position will receive annual refresher training in the same topic field as listed above

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $23.26–$31.01.
