WHO WE ARE The Edison Electric Institute EEI is the association that represents all US investor owned electric companies Our members provide electricity for more than 220 million Americans and operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia As a whole the electric power industry supports more than 7 million jobs in communities across the United States EEI employees are required to work in office Monday Thursday and have the option to work remotely on Fridays KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MANAGING DIRECTOR RELIABILITY INDUSTRY OPERATIONS Reporting directly to the SVP Industry Operations SVP the Managing Director Reliability MD serves as a senior member of EEIs Industry Operations division and is responsible for leading a broad range of activities that affect the reliability of the electric power industry The MD provides leadership to advance the strategic and operational interests of EEIs members in the areas of grid stability and system reliability The MD will lead a team of policy and subject matter experts and is responsible for shaping the organizations operational positions and supporting member priorities through robust analysis and research Other important responsibilities of the MD Lead a team of subject matter experts responsible for monitoring analyzing and influencing a variety of regulatory and operational issues affecting the electric power industry including NERC standards and other related operational issuesProactively engage in reliability and resilience activities with DOE NERC and other organizationsInform the development of member positions on key issues in collaboration with EEIs legal and policy teamsBuild and maintain strong relationships with federal agencies and other key stakeholders to advance EEIs member prioritiesLeadership and Management Oversee a high performing team of subject matter experts fostering collaboration professional growth and excellenceSupport positive working relationships across the three Industry Operations pillars and with other EEI divisions particularly the Legal and Policy teams to align operational positions and research with advocacy and messagingIn coordination with the SVP oversee employee performance management and conduct performance reviews in a timely manner REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 15 years of relevant experience in the energy sector with a focus on grid stability and system reliabilityDemonstrated expertise in federal and other regulatory processes affecting the electric utility industryExceptional judgment integrity and discretion in managing sensitive and high impact mattersExcellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences including member executives policymakers and regulatorsStrong leadership and team management experience including mentoring and developing professionalsAbility to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced dynamic environmentWillingness to travel up to 20 for EEI member events meetings and conferences PHYSICAL AND SENSORY DEMANDS Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions EEI is committed to providing a productive and safe environment To achieve that goal we conduct background and reference check investigations for all final applicants being considered for employment Equal Opportunity Employment MDFV
