Position Overview The Maintenance Mechanic plays a key role in maintaining and optimizing high-speed can production equipment. This position is responsible for both preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring that machinery operates efficiently and downtime is minimized. You’ll work closely with the Mechanical Supervisor and cross-functional teams to keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Performance

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on production machinery and support systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components
  • Assist with equipment rebuilds, installations, and performance adjustments
  • Support machine setups and changeovers as needed

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules
  • Accurately document inspections, repairs, and parts usage
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and escalate for root cause analysis

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA, GMP, and company safety standards at all times
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Team Collaboration & Support

  • Work alongside maintenance, engineering, and production teams to resolve issues
  • Communicate equipment status and repair needs to the Mechanical Supervisor
  • Assist with spare parts inventory and report shortages
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance reliability and reduce downtime

Qualifications Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and basic welding is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues efficiently

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Certifications (Preferred)

  • OSHA, forklift, or other relevant safety certifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Technical training or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance (preferred)
  • 2–4 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing (metal packaging or high-speed production preferred)
