IT Systems Engineer – Remote
About the Opportunity:
The Vulnerability Security Patch Management team is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to design and implement server and endpoint vulnerability remediation solutions. This role participates in SWAT campaigns that improve and govern the organization’s vulnerability remediation practices. The Engineer implements system security solutions in multi-vendor environments and collaborates with IT Infrastructure, IT Application Support, and Risk teams to ensure a safe, compliant, and resilient environment.
Responsibilities:
• Collect and analyze information to identify vulnerabilities and potential exploits
• Review technical solutions and organizational goals against business requirements across IT and adjust as necessary
• Collaborate with endpoint, application, and IT infrastructure teams to achieve vulnerability remediation goals
• Maintain timelines and delivery aligned with business needs
• Test, troubleshoot, and support SWAT vulnerability remediation campaigns
• Stay updated on trends and best practices in IT systems engineering, vulnerability response, and cybersecurity frameworks
• Maintain and support moderately complex system software and hardware at multiple sites
• Monitor and respond to hardware and software issues using testing tools and techniques
• Interface with vendor support or external teams for proper escalation during outages or degraded system performance
• Contribute to design, development, implementation, and maintenance of custom and purchased system software
• Configure and support hardware systems across multiple sites
• Produce and maintain documentation such as system requirements, designs, resource inventories, and plans
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with IT technical staff and management across sites
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree and training/experience in IT technology; or Associate degree plus 3 years of technical experience; or high school diploma plus 5 years of technical experience at a large complex organization
• Experience in healthcare technology preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field preferred; Master’s degree helpful
• MCSE, CCNA, or other IT-related certifications preferred
• Knowledge of system design principles, software development methodologies, project management, and some programming or system support experience
• Experience managing custom-developed and vendor-supplied applications helpful
• Advanced knowledge of multiple operating systems including configuration and maintenance
• Working knowledge preferred in:
• Client/Server application architecture, clustering, VB and scripting tools
• MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, DB2, or Sybase
• Web architecture: HTML, JavaScript, ASP, PHP
• Network topologies and protocols such as IEEE 802.3, 802.11a/b/g, 802.1x, TCP/IP
• SAN, NAS, and virtualized storage environments
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English
• Experience in system hardware design, ordering, configuration, testing, and implementation of large projects
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of Windows and/or Red Hat Linux systems and configurations required
• Knowledge of automation tools such as MECM and Ansible a plus
• Knowledge of Group Policy Object (GPO) and Active Directory (AD) implementations a plus
• Knowledge of certificate vulnerability remediation a plus
• Knowledge of ServiceNow reporting a plus
• Knowledge of Rapid7, Prisma, and/or Veracode system scanning a plus
• Knowledge of container architecture a plus
