2. About the Opportunity:

The Human Resources Specialist role supports key human resources functions including benefits administration, leave management, payroll, and compliance. This position ensures accurate data management, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience by serving as an expert resource in HR operations. The role contributes to organizational success by maintaining efficient HR processes, supporting employee lifecycle activities, and facilitating communication between employees, management, and external vendors.

3. Responsibilities:

• Implement and improve onboarding processes to enhance new hire experience and ensure compliance

• Coordinate start dates and onboarding logistics with candidates and hiring managers

• Process new hire documentation and conduct background checks, addressing any issues

• Conduct new hire orientation when needed

• Serve as primary contact for employee and management benefits inquiries

• Process benefits enrollments, life events, terminations, and system updates

• Track benefit enrollments, audit deductions, reconcile invoices, and resolve discrepancies

• Collaborate with benefits vendors and support open enrollment activities

• Monitor employee satisfaction with benefits and recommend improvements

• Ensure compliance with applicable benefits regulations

• Support employee engagement initiatives such as wellness programs and events

• Oversee timekeeping system to ensure accurate recording and compliance with labor laws

• Review employee timecards and coordinate approvals and corrections

• Monitor paid time off and leave balances

• Prepare, verify, and audit payroll data including hours, deductions, and payments

• Serve as primary point of contact for payroll inquiries

• Manage leave requests including FMLA, ADA, PDL, workers’ compensation, and accommodations

• Track leave usage and maintain confidential documentation

• Coordinate with payroll on compensation during leave periods

• Support managers through leave processes and ensure compliance with leave regulations

• Maintain accurate and compliant HR records for audit readiness

• Support compliance with federal, state, institutional, accreditation, and internal policies

• Generate employee data reports and respond to employment verifications

• Manage employee exit processes including documentation and benefits communication

• Assign and track annual performance reviews

• Track training certifications and assist with scheduling

• Analyze HR metrics to support engagement, retention, and efficiency initiatives

• Support the People & Culture Generalist with benefits, engagement, leave, and compliance activities

• Lead or assist with special HR projects as assigned

• Promote employee participation in HR programs and model professionalism and customer service standards

• Adhere to organizational compliance requirements and communication guidelines

• Embody the organization’s mission, vision, purpose, and values

4. Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; HR certifications a plus

• 2-3 years progressive HR experience with expertise in at least two core HR functions

• Experience with Paylocity and/or Employee Navigator is beneficial

• Knowledge of HR practices and employment laws at federal, state, and local levels preferred

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail

• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities

• Self-motivated and committed to quality and timeliness

• Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially

• High ethical standards and professionalism

• Ability to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen skills

• Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project

• Flexible and adaptable to a rapidly changing environment

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
