About The Role The Human Resources Specialist at Iowa Bankers Insurance & Services, Inc. plays a pivotal role in delivering HR services to the Iowa Bankers organization and its association members. Reporting to the HR Manager, this position involves working under general supervision to support third-party HR services, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and various HR functions for member banks. The role requires proactive communication with banking personnel to offer guidance on HR-related issues, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and assisting with special projects that enhance HR operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, HRIS management, and customer service, with a focus on delivering accurate, timely, and professional support to banking clients. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources or related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a Human Resources role, with at least three years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience managing HRIS systems; Paylocity experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of HR laws and regulations; previous recruiting experience is advantageous.
- Certifications such as PHR or SHRM-CP are preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
Responsibilities
- Process payrolls from initiation to completion, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and policies.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and inquiries, maintaining detailed records and ensuring timely processing.
- Respond promptly to HR inquiries from personnel at IBA member banks, providing expert guidance and support on various HR issues.
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Support third-party HR services, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee relations activities.
- Participate in special HR projects aimed at improving service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Proactively communicate regulatory updates and changes that impact HR functions to banking personnel.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to payroll, benefits, and HR activities.
- Collaborate with team members and management to identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the HR department and organizational goals.
