Do you enjoy working outdoors in fresh mountain air We are seeking passionate and motivated individuals to join our Trail Crew as Equipment Operators this Summer This position requires technical skills safety awareness and environmental consciousness The Equipment Operator will play a critical role in helping to maintain hiking trails ski runs and other areas in the resort using heavy duty equipment Landscaping cattle control sign maintenance and erosion control are also part of your daily activities Bike parks golf rounds and lake days await you on your days off If this sounds like the ideal work environment fill out an application to work live and play where you belong Compensation Information 2730 per hour Physical Requirement Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; predominantly in an outdoor setting This job position requires physical presence at the designated location The perks and benefits youll get to enjoy WinterSummer Season Lift Trail and Golf passes varies by position Access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program Dining discounts within our hotel & Resort owned outlets Retail discounts in our Resort owned outlets Friends and family rates at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel Reciprocal programs with partnering ski areas & hotels Skills you bring with you Minimum 5 years experience operating Heavy equipment Excavators Bulldozers Backhoes Front end loaders etcMinimum 5 years experience of Winch assisted grooming equipment as well as conventional snow grooming equipment and a minimum of 5 years experience working with excavators in a mountain environmentMature person with a strong work ethic and interpersonal skillsA team player who shares ideas and delivers solutions for Guests and their on mountain experiencesA good listener and someone who can adapt to day to day changesSafety conscious and experienced operating all types of industry equipmentKnowledge of the snowmaking system and provides support during snowmaking season moving snowmaking equipment preparation of early season slopes production management etcA proven communicator who mentors others by sharing industry knowledge and Best PracticesExcellent time management and planning skillsBasic understanding of Risk Management within industry during year round operationsStrong mechanical aptitude is considered an assetAble to complete daily reports neatly concisely and legiblyExperience with special events venue preparationAble to work shifts and odd hours with overtime when required Must be able to work a flexible schedule weekends and holidays as required by summer operating hours special events and Fire Danger RatingAble to think react and communicate under pressure both written and verbalExcellent working knowledge of the Sun Peaks physical plant and summer operationsA good listener able to follow instruction closely etcMust have a keen eye for close detail while still dealing with a larger scopeWilling and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditionsMust be in good physical shape able to undertake constant hard physical work and able to safely lift heavy objectsValid class 5 drivers license and clean abstract we will require a consent form signed so abstract can be checkedHighly experienced operating all of the summer trails equipmentA hands on operator who leads by examplePrevious Wildfire Suppression experience with valid S 100 certificate and OFA 1 as minimumSupply own CSA approved above ankle footwear sunscreen and appropriate clothingPrimary Responsibilities Operation of various equipment within the fleet at Sun Peaks ResortSummer Operations maintenance with various excavators 17 Ton to 20 Ton but also familiar with operation of Rubber Tire Backhoe Skid Steer Excavators Aebi including sweeper attachment post pounding flail mower 4×4 Trucks and QuadsProvide input and solutions for the various teams within the Operations Department to deliver exceptional outcomes for the guests These teams include Winter Grooming Terrain Parks Snowmaking Lift Operations Vehicle Maintenance Lift Maintenance and othersDaily pre start checks on equipment grease and clean the equipment report and contain spills as per our Spill Response Plan and Environmental Management System ISO 14001Work closely with the Bike Park Department to build and maintain Mountain Bike Trails that exceed industry standards PTBA IMBA Whistler Standard and that are considerate of exceptional Guest ExperiencesAccountability for safe operation of fleet equipment and communicate any mechanical concerns with the Vehicle Maintenance Department Accurate neat compilation of all relevant reports to other teams in the Operations departmentCommunicate all necessary information to all operators during pre work meetings and at shift changeoversEnsure that equipment inventories are maintained and tools are available when neededDaily progress tracking of work to ensure timely completion of the task before starting another Monitor work being done to ensure that all WorkSafe regulations and SOGs are followed daily and ensure that other crews are aware of safety concerns in and around the area you are workingTo assist other departments when requiredTo treat co workers and company equipment with the utmost respectCommunicate problems issues or near misses with your Manager as soon as possibleReport Accidents or Incidents to your Manager immediately and be available to assist on investigations if necessaryArrive at work on time and completely prepared for working outside in all conditions proper footwear clothing foodwater rain gear PPE and well restedDaily record keeping;
