Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator

About the Opportunity

A well-established industrial manufacturing company is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator to support site-level safety, environmental compliance, and injury-prevention initiatives. This role is responsible for helping maintain a safe, compliant, and organized workplace by supporting safety programs, environmental reporting, training, inspections, audits, and incident follow-up.

This is a hands-on role that works closely with production employees, site leadership, operators, and cross-functional teams to promote a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable environmental and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support site safety and environmental compliance programs to help prevent injuries and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Identify, evaluate, and help eliminate workplace hazards related to equipment, tooling, materials, work practices, and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and safety walks to ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, housekeeping, and 5S requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Support compliance with hazardous waste, universal waste, water quality, DOT, RCRA, and OSHA requirements.
  • Assist with communication, documentation, and recordkeeping related to regulatory agencies and compliance activities.
  • Coordinate external environmental and safety inspections and audits, including follow-up on corrective actions with the appropriate internal teams.
  • Maintain required regulatory reporting, including environmental, hazardous material, wastewater, stormwater, and related compliance documentation.
  • Support emergency response programs, waste minimization efforts, inspections, permitting, and manifest/waste recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate and document emergency drills, including fire and severe-weather drills.
  • Conduct safety training programs for employees, operators, and staff.
  • Support initiatives focused on reducing injuries, improving safety performance, and strengthening safety culture.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Audit safety expectations, work instructions, and quality practices to help ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to support safe and compliant production activities.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts tied to safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, and operational best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Health Physics, or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Exposure to RCRA, DOT, hazardous waste, universal waste, and water-quality requirements preferred.
  • Experience in metal processing, welding, metallurgy, heavy manufacturing, or similar industrial environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting safety training, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and regulatory documentation.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or related continuous improvement exposure is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, including up to 4 continuous hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
