Plant Electrician Alaska General Seafoods Naknek AK As a Plant Electrician at our Naknek Alaska facility you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the seafood processing plant Your duties will include troubleshooting electrical issues performing preventive maintenance installing new electrical components while adhering to electrical safety standards You will work closely with other maintenance and production personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the plant Strong electrical knowledge problem solving skills and attention to detail are essential for this role This is a Union position Essential FunctionsQualifications The responsibilities of the position include the following Installs services and repairs lighting fixtures electrical panels outlets and wiringOperates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipmentInstalls repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machineryReads electrical circuit diagramsInstalls conductors splices cables builds terminations and performs necessary hook ups for primary power linesUpholds and supports company rules and policiesWorks in a safe manner and takes action to correct or report safety hazardsOther duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization are fully supported and successfulMaintain and operate diesel generatorsOther duties as assignedCompetencies To perform the job successfully an individual should demonstrate the following functional and interpersonal competencies Functional Electrical Engineering Knowledge A deep understanding of electrical theory circuits and componentsProject Management Ability to plan organize and execute electrical projects efficientlyElectrical Code Compliance Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations to ensure safe and compliant installationsTroubleshooting Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical problems effectivelyEquipment Selection Expertise in selecting appropriate electrical equipment materials and toolsInterpersonal Communication Effective communication skills to interact with vendors and team membersProblem Solving Ability to identify and solve complex electrical problemsTime Management Efficient time management skills to meet project deadlinesEducation and Experience At least 2 3 years of experience in electrical workMust possess a valid electricians licenseProven experience as an electricianExperience in seafood industrial andor commercial electrical systemsDemonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools eg wire strippers voltmeter etc and electrical drawings and blueprintsThorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelinesWork Environment and Schedule While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts The employee is frequently exposed to wet andor humid conditions and extreme cold The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration The noise level in the work environment is usually loud Position requires onsite presence at our Naknek Alaska processing facility and the ability to travel including at times to remote locations Physical Demands This role requires the capability to work consecutive long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time Shifts typically range from 12 to 16 hours per day with periodic breaks depending on work demands The work is strenuous and sometimes hazardous due to exposure to operating machinery mechanical parts fumes chemicals pressurized fluids and vibration with the facility operating under all types of weather conditions including extreme cold This includes standing walking and maintaining balance on wet or slippery surfaces Both hands must be capable of grabbing holding or gripping ropes rails equipment and plant structures for frequent periods of time Forceful grasping along with repetitive finger and hand use is occasional Applicants must be able to climb up and down ladders safely work in small and confined spaces and pass all safety test requirements Mental Activities The employee is frequently required to set an example by consistently modeling high standards of honesty and integrity Presentation and sharing of information should be handled directly appropriately and helpfully The candidate must maintain a reputation for honesty confidentiality reliability and fairness They should be willing to admit mistakes and not misrepresent themselves for personal gain Work should be performed with energy and drive; while planning is important the ability to take quick decisive action when opportunities arise is also valued Join Our Team Alaska General Seafoods is seeking a dedicated and skilled Plant Electrician to support our operations in Naknek AK If you are ready for a rewarding career in a dynamic seafood processing environment apply today
