Director of IT – Procurement, Corporate Real Estate & Security, Sustainability

Legal & Compliance IT Solutions and Systems

The Director, IT holds a pivotal leadership position within the Global Business Services (GBS) Enterprise Technology Organization (ETO), steering the evolution and deployment of technology solutions throughout Procurement, Corporate Real Estate & Security, Sustainability, Legal, and Compliance functions. This position acts as a reliable IT ally to GBS business units, harmonizing technology strategy with business outcomes and fostering innovation and operational excellence. The Director oversees a team responsible for technology roadmaps, program execution, and delivering secure and scalable solutions. This position demands a strategic, customer-centric leader who proactively takes charge, achieves outcomes, and fosters continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate combines technical and functional expertise with a demonstrated ability to inspire change across GBS applications. Succeeding in this position necessitates a mix of technical and functional knowledge, strategic foresight, operational implementation, and the skill to persuade within a global, matrixed structure. Robust cross-functional teamwork, reliable alliances, and synchronization of technology with business objectives are crucial.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnerships & Communication:

  • Foster relationships: Build strong partnerships with essential business partners and diverse teams to align on IT systems strategy and your tasks. Show leadership and influence to achieve agreement and a common vision.

  • Business Alignment: Foster trust-centered partnerships with business managers to harmonize technology ventures with strategic organizational goals.

  • Multi-Functional IT Group Collaboration: Coordinating across IT ecosystems to support integrated solution delivery. Partner with Group, Regional, and Local IT leadership on planning, implementation, and organizational progress.

  • Work with ETO and other support teams to address ERP impacts and ensure future scalability.

  • Multi-Functional IT Shared Services – Infrastructure, AAD, Digital Team: Engage with infrastructure teams to scope, acquire, and deploy vital hardware and software. Provide detailed cost estimates and timelines for buildout and implementation.

  • Portfolio Management:

  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure IT initiatives align with portfolio goals; prioritize projects based on impact, risk, and resource capacity.

  • Governance & Oversight: Implement governance frameworks for decision-making, risk mitigation, and performance tracking; ensure compliance with policies and standards.

  • Financial Management: Supervise portfolio budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and analysis of return on investment; optimize resource allocation for maximum value.

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor critical metrics, progress, and outcomes, proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies.

  • Collaboration with various teams: Keep in touch with business leaders and cross-functional teams; promote alignment through organized reporting and teamwork.

  • Operations & Execution Management:

  • Annual Operating Plan: Support business operating plans through accurate estimates and ongoing engagement.

  • Appropriation Request: Support investment request for key programs with IT estimations.

  • Strategic Initiatives: Take charge of prioritizing strategic programs and projects, ensuring clear work, important metrics, resource planning, timely and on-budget.

  • Application Support: Define and uphold strong support frameworks for all applications in the portfolio.

  • Contract Oversight: Govern and access application-related contracts.

  • Collaborating with IT: Work closely with IT colleagues to align priorities and deliveries throughout the organization.

  • Team Operating Rhythm: Establish a cadence for performance tracking and team engagement.

  • Cadence: Contribute to weekly, monthly, and quarterly program and business reviews.

  • Technology & Innovation Leadership:

  • Assess internal technology trends and constraints to guide strategic decisions and execution.

  • Demonstrate IT thought leadership by finding opportunities to use emerging technologies, including AI and OpenAI integrations, to enhance efficiency.

  • Prioritize data management and analytics to drive actionable insights and business value.

  • Establish technical governance and standards and find opportunities to scale and streamline through process and technology optimization.

  • Vendor Management: Manage vendor relationships to improve value to the business. Negotiate simple to moderately complex contracts.

  • Team Management:

  • Define required roles, skills, and knowledge to support portfolio initiatives.

  • Strategically plan to hire to meet capability needs, including bringing to bear cost-effective regions.

  • Deliver hands-on leadership by mentoring, managing performance, and determining staffing.

  • Align talent and technology resources with delivery goals, balance workloads for optimal execution.

  • Steer the team towards delivery based on outcomes and continuous improvement.

  • Coordinate resolution of blocking issues and partner concerns for the application within the portfolio.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, STEM, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience leading and implementing IT systems and platforms.
  • 5-10 years of program management experience; 3-5 years of business partnership exposure with senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated skill in guiding cross-functional, international teams to achieve strategic results.
  • Robust leadership in guiding, performance oversight, and team enhancement.
  • Inclusive leadership style fostering collaboration and issue resolution.
  • Excellent communication, executive presence, and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of software application costs, risks, and architecture.
  • Self-motivated individuals who can establish goals and influence collaborators.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical/Functional expertise in systems that facilitate Global Business Services:

  • Coupa, Ariba, Cloud Platforms like – AWS, Databricks, Microsoft Power Platforms (Low codes apps, automations, analytics), Carbon tracking, ESG reporting, supply chain sustainability, Property data, Legal applications like Malbek and iManage.

  • Data Analytics, Data Integration and Data management experience in ERPs.

  • AI & Automation experience with the focus on productivity improvements.

  • Experience with ERP third-party applications and SaaS platforms.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification and Agile delivery expertise preferred.

  • Demonstrated skill in guiding and retaining top-performing teams.

  • Skilled in resolving complex business, systems, and change management challenges.

  • Creative problem solvers with effective teamwork and participant involvement abilities.

  • Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong IT-business relationship management and cross-functional leadership.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $176,000.00-$234,700.00.
