Senior UX/UI Designer Datadog Dashboard
Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced UX/UI Designer to design a Datadog-based operations dashboard for the Client Pay Business Operations team.
This dashboard will enable real-time monitoring of:
- Partner system uptime
- Failures and incidents
- Product experience across multiple geographies
The goal is to create clear, actionable visualizations that allow the team to quickly identify issues and compare performance globally.
An initial draft dashboard exists. This engagement will assess, refine, and redesign it as needed.
Background
The Business Operations team manages payment partners worldwide, including:
- Primary strategic partners
- A long tail of smaller partners
They need a dashboard that helps them:
- Monitor uptime in real time
- Identify and triage failures quickly
- Compare performance across regions
- Distinguish primary partner issues from long-tail partner issues
Scope of Work
1. Current State Assessment
- Review the existing draft dashboard
- Identify gaps, usability issues, and improvement opportunities
2. Information Architecture
- Define partner and geography hierarchy (Global Region Country Partner)
- Design filtering and drill-down logic
- Establish clear user flows for multi-partner, multi-geography views
3. High-Fidelity Mockups (35 Views)
- Production-ready dashboard designs
- Designed within Datadog’s widget and layout constraints
4. Interactive Prototype
- Clickable prototype
- Demonstrates filters, drill-downs, and alert states
5. Design Specifications
- Annotated handoff documentation
- Clear mapping to Datadog components and capabilities

Required Qualifications
- 5 years of UX/UI design experience
- Strong portfolio demonstrating dashboard or data visualization work
- Experience designing within constraint-based platforms (Datadog, Grafana, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
- Ability to create production-ready design specifications
- Experience designing enterprise B2B or internal tools
Strongly Preferred
- Direct Datadog dashboard design experience
- Background in operations, SRE, or infrastructure monitoring
- Experience visualizing hierarchical data (geography, org structures, partner tiers)
- Familiarity with enterprise design systems or Human Interface Guidelines
Soft Skills
- Comfortable collaborating with engineers and data teams
- Able to translate ambiguous requirements into structured design solutions
- Self-directed and responsive to async feedback
