About The Role This is a remote position designed for a skilled Data Platform Engineer who will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data platforms that support enterprise data integrations. The role involves managing data workflows for Enterprise Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store, and Data Marts, ensuring data access, security, privacy, and governance are upheld to meet compliance standards. The successful candidate will establish enterprise-scale data integration procedures, develop resilient data pipelines, and implement frameworks across the entire data development lifecycle. They will recommend and adopt suitable technologies to deliver scalable, resilient, and future-proof data solutions, including high-performance data ingestion pipelines and optimized data schemas. The role requires conducting performance tuning, impact analysis, and system enhancements through coding, testing, and system analysis. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, is essential to align data solutions with business objectives. The candidate will also oversee data deliverables, coordinate design reviews, manage release activities, and provide technical support for production incidents. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field, plus five (5) years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field, plus three (3) years of relevant experience,
- Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries in environments with large datasets,
- Proficiency with big data systems utilizing distributed storage and serverless compute technologies (AWS or Hadoop),
- Programming skills in Python or PySpark for data processing and automation,
- Experience designing and implementing data schemas,
- Operational experience with internal data warehouses and SQL/NoSQL databases,
- Hands-on experience with traditional ETL tools and cloud-based ETL solutions such as Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services or Streamsets,
- Familiarity with scheduling tools like Control-M, Redwood, or Autosys,
- Experience with reporting tools including Tableau or MicroStrategy,
- Knowledge of traditional and cloud databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, and Hive,
- Experience using version control systems like Tortoise SVN or similar,
- Understanding of System Development Life Cycle methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile,
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills,
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment within North Carolina, Georgia, or Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data platforms supporting data integrations for Data Warehouse, Data Marts, and Operational Data Stores.
- Create high-performance data ingestion pipelines utilizing scheduled and trigger-based patterns, ensuring data reliability and scalability.
- Develop optimized Data Definition Language (DDL) scripts for row-based and columnar databases to enhance data processing efficiency.
- Perform performance tuning of complex SQL queries and data pipelines to optimize system performance and resource utilization.
- Conduct impact analysis for proposed changes, assessing effects on existing architecture, capabilities, and system priorities.
- Enhance data processing systems through system analysis, Python coding, testing, and other activities aligned with technical and business objectives.
- Oversee data deliverables, coordinate design reviews, and manage release cycles to ensure quality and timely deployment.
- Estimate project timelines, identify technical risks, and communicate issues and solutions effectively to stakeholders.
- Drive automation initiatives, identify inefficiencies, and recommend process improvements to optimize data flows and operational efficiency.
- Utilize agile engineering practices and modern data development technologies for rapid development and deployment of data products.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to understand program increment (PI) goals, requirements, and delivery schedules.
- Provide technical support for production incidents, troubleshoot failures, and implement corrective actions promptly.
