Requirements


Must have:

– Proven background in data center installations or a comparable hands-on technical position – Solid knowledge of rack infrastructure, along with server, storage, and network hardware – Strong capability in structured cabling, including fiber and copper, plus best-practice cable management – Experience with power distribution inside racks, including PDUs, dual feeds, and redundancy concepts – Practical understanding of cooling approaches, including DX airflow management and direct-to-chip liquid cooling – Experience supporting system deployment tasks such as OS installation and imaging tools – Basic familiarity with BIOS and firmware configuration, as well as hardware verification – Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and MOPs – Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities during installation work – Ability to work independently while also supporting and guiding junior technicians – Good knowledge of health and safety standards in data center environments – Physically able to carry out installation work in demanding conditions

Responsibilities:


  • Lead rack build and in-rack deployment work based on design documentation – Interpret rack layouts, elevation drawings, and cabling schematics – Perform and verify rack-and-stack activities for servers, storage, and network equipment – Complete structured cabling work using fiber and copper, including basic testing and validation – Install and verify power connections, including single and dual feed setups, PDUs, and load considerations – Configure airflow best practices for DX-cooled environments – Install and validate direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems, including cold plates, hoses, manifolds, and quick disconnects – Inspect for leaks and confirm correct routing, strain relief, and secure connections – Carry out initial system bring-up, including OS installation and basic configuration in line with build standards and imaging processes – Validate hardware functionality through POST checks and BIOS/firmware baseline verification – Perform basic network connectivity checks where required – Conduct post-installation quality checks against design specifications and checklists – Audit cables, power, and labeling, and confirm airflow and cooling setup – Identify defects, resolve installation issues where possible, and escalate when needed – Support and mentor L1 technicians on procedures and best practices – Coordinate with project, engineering, and operations teams to ensure smooth delivery – Update documentation and report progress, deviations, hazards, and non-compliance issues – Follow all data center safety requirements, permits, PPE rules, and safe handling procedures for powered equipment and liquid cooling systems

We have onsite contract opportunities in Colorado City, TX and Barber, TX for multiple data center roles, including Field Installation Technicians, Shift Leads, and specialists in cooling/plumbing and electrical work. This is a 3+ month contract with potential for extension or conversion to a full-time role, offering pay rates from $20 to $40 per hour depending on the position and experience. We support a three-shift schedule across first, second, and third shifts, and we provide training for motivated candidates with strong foundational cabling experience.
