BlueStar Pros is seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to support cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and delivery across complex enterprise, cloud, operational technology, and airport technology environments. This role will help design secure solutions, perform architecture and risk assessments, guide remediation planning, support proposal/task-order responses, and provide senior technical leadership on client engagements.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in security architecture for critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments and can advise across modern enterprise and airport technology ecosystems, including security operations, vulnerability and exposure management, identity and access management, incident response, cloud security, application security, disaster recovery/business continuity, OT/ICS security, and vendor/product evaluations. The role is intentionally aligned to support the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority (MWAA) which includes cyber/physical security, DR/BCP, IAM, security operations, DevSecOps, Operational Technology/Industrial Control Systems, and technologies such as wireless, video analytics, unified communications, airport information systems, parking, passenger/baggage processing, building automation, AWS/IoT, and API-based integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cybersecurity architecture and security design across enterprise IT, cloud, application, and operational technology environments.
  • Conduct security risk assessments, vulnerability reviews, and threat modeling for complex systems and infrastructure.
  • Design and evaluate secure solutions for identity management, network security, cloud platforms, and DevSecOps environments.
  • Support cybersecurity operations including incident response planning, monitoring strategies, and security program development.
  • Provide security guidance for technology modernization initiatives, vendor evaluations, and system integrations.
  • Advise on security architecture for critical infrastructure technologies such as building automation systems, IoT devices, and industrial control systems (OT/ICS).
  • Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity planning for mission-critical systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to integrate cybersecurity throughout system lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working in a 1099 / independent consultant capacity and supporting project-based or contract engagements.
  • 10+ years of cybersecurity experience with a focus on architecture, engineering, or senior technical advisory roles.
  • Strong expertise in cybersecurity architecture, cloud security, identity and access management, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Experience performing security assessments and designing controls aligned with frameworks such as NIST or similar industry standards.
  • Ability to evaluate and secure complex environments involving enterprise systems, integrations, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience supporting critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with operational technology (OT), industrial control systems (ICS), or smart-building technologies is a strong plus.
  • Experience with API/integration security, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or modern security operations environments preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GIAC, or cloud security certifications are highly desirable.
