The Consulting Application Engineer is a senior-level software engineer responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable cloud-native solutions and automation frameworks that enable high-quality application delivery across the enterprise.

This role combines application development expertise with strong experience in cloud platforms and modern software delivery practices. The engineer will build reusable development components, CI/CD capabilities, automation services, and integration solutions that accelerate and standardize application delivery within the ERP organization.

The ideal candidate has strong development skills, deep understanding of SDLC processes, and experience building cloud-based and automation-first solutions in Azure and/or GCP environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Application & Platform Development

Design and develop reusable application components and shared libraries to support enterprise development standards

Build and maintain CI/CD capabilities as code to support application deployment across multiple environments

Develop secure automation services and integration solutions supporting cloud-native applications

Implement REST-based integrations and system-to-system automation

Develop infrastructure-related automation using modern scripting and programming languages

Build deployment orchestration logic and standardized release workflows

Design and implement solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements including security, scalability, and resiliency

Cloud Engineering & Enablement

Develop and deploy cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure and/or GCP

Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions to support application environments

Create reusable templates and automation modules to streamline provisioning and deployment

Contribute to cloud architecture decisions supporting application modernization initiatives

SDLC Optimization & Engineering Excellence

Improve and standardize build, test, and deployment processes through engineered solutions

Identify SDLC gaps and implement developer-centric tooling improvements

Develop automation to support governance, compliance, and security controls

Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex application and deployment issues

Participate in incident resolution and root cause analysis

Collaboration & Delivery

Work closely with application teams to enable efficient build and deployment practices

Provide technical documentation for solutions and operational handoff

Lead or contribute to proof-of-concept efforts evaluating new development tools or frameworks

Participate in Agile development processes

Provide on-call support as needed

COMPETENCIES

Skills, Abilities, and Behaviors

Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills — Required

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently – Required

Appropriately communicate and integrate with teams and constituencies across the company (strong written and verbal communication skills and effective relationship-building skills) – Required.

Experience with developing and supporting Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes — Required

Strong proficiency with one or more programming/scripting languages (C#, Groovy, Python, etc.) — Required

Experience utilizing REST APIs and integration patterns- Required

Proficiency with git version control software — Required

Experience building and deploying applications in Azure and/or GCP- Required

Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, BigQuery, etc.)

Experience supporting n-tier applications

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) – Preferred

Experience working in Agile development environments – Preferred

Experience modernizing legacy applications – Preferred

Experience implementing secure DevSecOps practices — Preferred

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience — Required

EXPERIENCE

5 or more years of relevant work experience — Required
