General Summary Provides technical support and equipment repair services. Installs and updates computer software, troubleshoots hardware issues, and maintains inventory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Oversees AS400 system operation and administration functions.
  • Assists Application Analysts with application administration.
  • Oversees payroll processing including application backups, coordination with city departments, file transfers to the bank, and reporting.
  • Monitors and maintains system backups.
  • Performs PC hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Installs new hardware and assists in disposal of obsolete equipment.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required Education And Experience

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least twelve (12) hours/credits of coursework from an accredited technical school, college or university in the field of computers (PC).
  • At least six (6) months of experience in the operation and maintenance of a computer and the installation of hardware and software.

Required Licenses Or Certifications

  • Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
