What you will accomplish in this role
The Communications Specialist II is responsible for executing high-quality, multi-channel communications in support of Digital Transformation & Innovation (DT&I), Innovation Hubs and DT&I transformation initiatives at HCA Healthcare.
This role supports execution of Hub-level activation, product and change communications and enterprise channels. In partnership with Change Management, Innovation Hub teams, and Stakeholder Engagement, the Specialist develops first drafts of communications materials, coordinates project timelines and creative production activities, supports video and multimedia logistics and gathers performance metrics to reinforce adoption and engagement efforts for patients and colleagues.
This role serves as an execution partner, ensuring communications initiatives are implemented consistently and in alignment with established enterprise messaging standards, governance frameworks and culture-of-innovation priorities. By owning drafting, coordination and tracking activities, the Communications Specialist II enables sustained focus on enterprise strategy, executive alignment and long-range narrative planning.
What you will do in this role:
- Execute communications plans supporting DT&I operations, Innovation Hubs, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Develop and deploy multi-channel content and activation materials, including signage, executive presentations, cascade content, and event communications.
- Ensure stakeholder alignment with communications delivered to leaders.
- Organize and maintain executive communications assets and supporting materials.
- Coordinate production timelines and logistics for graphic design, video, multimedia, and on-site shoots in partnership with internal teams and vendors.
- Maintain self-serve templates and digital asset libraries.
- Execute change communications aligned to adoption milestones in collaboration with Change Management and Hub teams.
- Support culture-of-innovation campaigns and ensure consistent enterprise messaging standards.
- Manage editorial calendar deadlines, approvals, and content submissions to support structured communications planning.
- Assist with newsletters, enterprise cascade workflows, and platform updates to ensure timely distribution.
- Manage creative intake, track deliverables, and maintain organized documentation of communications activities.
- Identify timeline risks and dependencies and support continuous workflow and process improvement
- Compile engagement and adoption metrics to support enterprise reporting and ROI analysis.
- Maintain dashboards and provide insights to optimize communications effectiveness.
- Leverage approved AI and digital tools to enhance content development efficiency and execution workflows.
- Stay informed on emerging communications technologies and apply them appropriately.
- Support continuous improvement of DT&I communication processes, templates, and best practices.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field – Required
- 4 years of relevant experience in communications – Required
- Background in healthcare communications, corporate/internal communications, or experience in a healthcare setting – Preferred

- Experienced professional with a passion for healthcare communications and an eye for innovation.
- Creative and self-motivated with excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to take creative direction and constructive feedback.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate strong ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, review and create compelling messages, and manage multiple projects.
- Experience in change management or leading communications through major organizational change.
- Associated Press writing style.
- Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Highly adaptability to re-prioritization of projects as needed.
- Working knowledge of emerging communication technologies, e.g., ChatGPT, etc.
- Manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Utilize excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to extract nuanced information from subject matter experts and articulate complex concepts in clear language.
Work Location/Schedule:
- Nashville, TN area (near Centennial Park)
- Onsite: M-F, 8am — 5pm
Travel Required:
- Occasional Travel: The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis.
