Summary: We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with project management experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design and construction oversight, along with the ability to provide technical guidance and advisory services. This role requires a TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship or Green Card holder status.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop preliminary and final designs, design analysis, technical specifications, and cost estimates for new construction, modifications, and repairs of existing civil systems.
  • Create designs for buildings, water supply systems, distribution and storage systems, storm drainage systems, and other facilities.
  • Provide professional advice and technical assistance to directorate personnel and tenant activities.
  • Investigate and analyze specific engineering problems and provide solutions to meet performance requirements.
  • Recommend alternatives to address facility needs and existing system challenges.
  • Analyze civil/structural needs, conduct calculations, and select systems based on available funds, energy conservation, pollution control standards, and preservation requirements.
  • Coordinate with architects and engineers from other disciplines to ensure project compatibility and integration.
  • Review plans and specifications prepared by architects, engineers, and for adequacy and feasibility.
  • Investigate and resolve technical problems during project construction phases.
  • Collaborate with contractors and manufacturers to address construction and equipment issues.
  • Participate in final on-site inspections for specialty and unique projects.
  • Conduct inspections of wooden facilities, trusses, or frameworks to ensure structural adequacy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Broad professional knowledge of engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods.
  • Ability to determine and execute actions for a wide range of assignments involving complex features.
  • Experience in researching, analyzing, testing, and evaluating information to devise efficient and feasible solutions.
  • Knowledge of energy conservation, pollution control standards, and preservation of historic sites requirements.
  • Expertise in managing engineering projects and providing technical oversight and direction.
  • Strong communication skills for preparing and presenting plans, designing reports, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on projects involving structural, hydrologic, traffic, sanitary, and foundation construction systems.
  • Familiarity with agency standards, codes, and regulations related to civil engineering projects.
  • Experience coordinating with architects and engineers of other disciplines to ensure project compatibility.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing plans and specifications prepared by external agencies.
  • Ability to work on-site in a desert environment with exposure to heat, high elevations, and confined spaces.

Physical Demands and Work Environments:

  • Regular and recurring physical exertion, including walking, standing, bending, and climbing during inspections.
  • Exposure to moderate risks and discomforts such as heat and confined spaces.

Three-year Contract or longer – Monday – Friday – 8:00am-5:00pm
