Business Development Manager
We are partnered with an established clean energy infrastructure provider with over fifteen years of experience developing, financing, owning, and operating solar and battery storage projects across diverse markets, including community solar, commercial & industrial, and utility-scale.
The business’s distributed energy resources division specializes in end-to-end energy transition services for large enterprises, integrating microgrid infrastructure that aligns with regulatory and capital market trends. The growing platform focuses on projects serving commercial and industrial clients, data centers, EV charging infrastructure, and behind-the-meter battery storage applications.
Our client is seeking a results-driven professional with a client-first mindset to take ownership of targeting, qualifying, and securing new business and revenue growth opportunities across multiple clean energy technologies. This role focuses on the corporate energy transition sector, particularly Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar PV, and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
This is an ideal position for someone with a proven track record in renewable energy sales or project development, eager to leverage their industry expertise and network to drive business growth. The successful candidate will be adept at building trust-based client relationships and delivering tailored, value-driven solutions that align with customer goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives aligned with the company’s go-to-market strategy to drive growth and achieve revenue targets.
- Identify prospects through targeted research and stakeholder mapping, understanding key decision-makers’ pain points, and navigating the path to sales closure.
- Take ownership of pipeline growth and maintain high standards for opportunity tracking and reporting.
- Collaborate with product and strategy teams to conduct market research and analysis, identifying emerging trends and opportunities for expansion.
- Champion client relationships throughout complex sales cycles, ensuring smooth collaboration with internal teams for seamless handover to client solutions and project development.
- Maintain and enforce CRM standards, ensuring all prospects and opportunities are accurately recorded and tracked, and generate regular reports for senior management.
- Lead internal sales and business development meetings with clear objectives, agendas, and follow-ups.
- Manage and mentor junior business development team members, setting targets and monitoring progress.
- Lead development of proposals, presentations, and marketing materials that clearly communicate the value proposition to prospective clients.
- Participate in negotiation and contracting processes, ensuring agreements achieve win-win outcomes.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular updates to leadership.
- Develop and refine business development processes to meet customer needs and company objectives.
Qualifications
- Willingness to travel up to 20%, depending on business requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in the renewable energy sector, with strong working knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems, preferably in behind-the-meter development.
- Proven track record of business development success, including managing long and complex sales cycles.
- Minimum of five years relevant experience with the ability to analyze and propose solutions for complex customer requirements.
- Ability to manage customer accounts independently with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated, organized, flexible, and positive with a collaborative mindset.
- Prior line management experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; a natural ‘people person’ preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
