About The Role We are seeking a full-time, remote Business Analyst to join our dynamic team based in White Marsh, Maryland. The Business Analyst will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. This position involves gathering, analyzing, and documenting detailed business requirements for various products and project enhancements. The Business Analyst will work closely with product managers, development teams, and stakeholders to ensure that project deliverables align with business objectives. They will be responsible for creating functional and technical specifications, managing requirements through the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and coordinating testing and customer demonstrations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, particularly within back-office systems in the transportation industry, and possess excellent communication and analytical skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in business analysis, preferably in software development for back-office transportation systems
- Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., PMI-BA) is a plus
- Strong understanding of SDLC processes and requirements management tools
- Proficiency in JIRA, DevOps ticketing systems, and agile methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex data and technical documentation
- Knowledge of non-functional requirements such as security, performance, and scalability
- Familiarity with project scheduling and coordination with third-party vendors
Responsibilities
- Gather and document comprehensive business requirements based on feedback from product managers, clients, industry experts, and market research
- Conduct interviews and facilitate meetings to understand and define business needs
- Organize and document requirements using standard templates and methodologies, ensuring clarity and traceability
- Collaborate with product and project managers to prioritize and validate business requirements
- Work closely with development and testing teams to ensure functional specifications accurately reflect business needs
- Obtain approval from stakeholders on requirements and design documents
- Document technical non-functional requirements including security, performance, and scalability considerations
- Support technical teams with detailed documentation and clarification of requirements
- Coordinate testing activities, including creating test scenarios and ensuring coverage of critical use cases
- Track and manage changes to requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Assist in creating user documentation, instructions, and operational procedures
- Monitor post-implementation issues and coordinate revisions or enhancements as needed
- Create and manage tickets, stories, and bugs within JIRA or DevOps systems, ensuring proper prioritization and follow-up
- Participate in project schedule oversight and collaborate with external partners to meet project milestones
