Job Summary And Qualifications The Intern Biostatistician is part of the Clinical Services Group (CSG) Data & Analytics organization of HCA. This team, both technically-focused and hospital-facing, is responsible for HCA’s enterprise clinical reporting and analytics. With a goal of reducing avoidable variation in clinical practice, it has proven successful through targeted programs that leverage actionable and transparent analytics to drive positive change.
As part of the Clinical Operations Analytics team of CSG, the Intern Biostatistician is responsible for contributing to the development and support of ongoing and ad-hoc clinical quality reporting. This position will learn about how cross-functional clinical and technical teams come together to solve clinical or operational problems through actionable reporting. The intern shows a willingness to learn the subject-matter and skills necessary to contribute to these projects.
This position requires a collaborative, analytical thinker who is comfortable interacting with key business stakeholders. It requires an ability to make sense of data, a willingness to support clinical reporting initiatives, and basic data manipulation capabilities. The Intern Biostatistician thrives on a team dedicated to developing and supporting products that promote clinical care excellence at HCA Facilities.
This is a temporary paid internship and will run May through August 2026. General Responsibilities
- Participate in reporting and analytics that identify areas of opportunity and help drive Care Excellence at scale. Primary analytics platforms are R and Microsoft Excel.
- Creates documentation and job aids to clearly define new processes, workflows, and procedures.
- Writes basic SQL to extract and model data from multiple databases (Teradata, GCP, SQL, etc.).
- Utilizes R and/or Python to clean and analyze data
- Facilitates effective and respectful communication among all team members and leadership to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations and requirements.
- Maximizes productivity and accountability through effective time management, coordination, and communication.
Experience
- Knowledge of data analysis platforms preferred; R preferred, SAS or Python optional
- Intermediate level MS Excel preferred
- SQL knowledge preferred
- Proven ability to derive value from data
- Proven ability to work independently
