BIM Designer – Kasson, MN
OverviewEgan Company is seeking candidates for a BIM Designer role located in Kasson MN to join our Electrical Solutions & Prefabrication team The BIM Designer oversees model management tasks for design and VDC projects and spearheads the development and maintenance of Egans Revit infrastructure With the flexibility of working hybrid in this role you can collaborate alongside team members and project partners with a blend of working in the office and at home Responsibilities The basic responsibilities of the BIM Designer include but are not limited to the following Collaborate with others to develop CAD standards and best practicesCreate documentation for how tos best practices and standardsCollaborate with others to establish CAD development initiatives These initiatives should add value to CAD deliverables and contribute to Egans bottom line Specifically CAD development should accomplish one or more of the followingReduce on site construction laborReduce CAD laborRealize opportunities for off site fabricationReduce material wasteAccelerate project schedulesReduce informational errorsIncrease informational precisionEnable Egan to communicate information of appropriate quantity and kind The model is rich with information but not all of it needs to be extracted and shared However if the overall benefit of sharing more information exceeds the cost then it should be shared How that information is shared is also critical We want tools and processes that enable our documentation to be easily and intuitively understoodCollaborate to prioritize CAD development initiativesExecute CAD development initiativesAssist the Virtual Construction Group Manager the Chief Information Officer IT and others to obtain and implement appropriate CAD hardwareInvestigate and test new technologies and techniquesAssist with project workAnswer user questionsCreate project specific content for Virtual Design Construction projectsEstablish BIM execution guidelines with other project stakeholders owner owners rep contractor architect etc Communicate these guidelines to the in house teamAssist with modeling annotating and 3D coordinationVisit construction sites for verification and as buildingAttend 3D coordination meetingsPerform 3D modeling with main focus towards pre fabricationAssure the design results in conflict free installationCreate files for Trimble locating systemAll other duties as assignedBuild strong internal partnerships work collaboratively with other Egan groups to support Egans Mission Vision and ValuesRequirements Required High school diplomaTwo year technical degree in related program such as Electrical Construction Design or related fieldAutoCAD 3D andor Revit highly preferredQualifications Good communication skills verbal and writtenEffective teacher in small or large group settingsAble to work independently or as part of a teamAdept at envisioning goal setting and planningAble to delegate as necessaryAble to prioritize
