As an associate director and senior media strategist, you’ll play a key role in shaping and sharing the stories of companies developing groundbreaking scientific and medical advances in biopharma. You’ll help bring attention to innovations that have real potential to improve human health.

You will work closely with a team of PhDs and communication strategists at LifeSci Communications, while also working alongside specialist teams in finance, consulting, recruiting, and more as part of the broader LifeSci Partners organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive day-to-day activity to advance integrated client strategies, including development of content, plans for earned media, social media and thought leadership, and tracking ongoing progress.
- Serve as strategic support to client on an ongoing basis while executing communication programs that raise awareness among influential audiences.
- Conduct targeted media outreach to support client business goals, including milestone announcements, data readouts, and corporate announcements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and producers across key national, business and industry trade outlets (ie. BioWorld, Endpoints, STAT, Fierce, etc.)
- Draft a range of media materials – such as media lists, press releases, pitches, and media backgrounders – with oversight from senior team members.
- Monitor key media outlets and reporter coverage to gather intelligence, contribute to team knowledge-sharing, and help shape client recommendations.
- Provide coaching and teaching support for junior team members in both client services and media relations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in public relations, preferably with specific experience in media relations within the biopharma and life sciences industry.
- Proven track record of securing media coverage in industry, mainstream and business publications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in media monitoring tools and PR software (e.g., Muckrack, etc).
- Strong enthusiasm for media relations, writing, pitching and storytelling.
- Creative, results-driven, collaborative and team-oriented.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience serving as a client contact for communications programs with biopharmaceutical companies
- Established media contacts in national, business and industry trades.
- Experience supporting corporate milestones, data readouts and executive thought leadership initiatives.
- Ability to identify and develop compelling story angles.
