Accounting Internship with Elliott Equipment Company Overall Summary The Accounting Intern provides administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department within a manufacturing environment This role offers hands on experience with daily accounting operations including accounts payable accounts receivable and general ledger activities The intern will gain exposure to manufacturing accounting processes financial reporting and internal controls while supporting accurate and timely financial operations Essential Job Functions Assist with accounts payable processing including invoice entry matching purchase orders and filing documentationSupport accounts receivable activities such as posting customer payments and preparing deposit documentationAssist with reconciliation of accounts including bank accounts and general ledger balancesHelp maintain organized accounting records and electronic filing systemsSupport month end closing activities including preparation of journal entries and account analysisReview expense reports for accuracy and proper documentationProvide administrative support to accounting staff as neededMaintain confidentiality of financial and company informationLearning Opportunities Exposure to manufacturing accounting principlesUnderstanding ERP systems used in manufacturing operationsFinancial reporting and internal control proceduresCross department collaboration with production purchasing and operations teamsQualifications Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related fieldBasic understanding of accounting principlesProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applicationsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to handle confidential information responsiblyStrong communication and problem solving skillsPreferred Qualifications Coursework in cost accounting or managerial accountingExperience with ERP or accounting software manufacturing systems preferredPrior office or accounting experiencePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Individuals must be able to meet these physical requirements or be able to demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation Must be able to read and write reports memos and other miscellaneous written correspondence and view computer screenMust be able to communicate verbally with callers visitors and co workersMust be able to sit continuouslyMust be able to finger grasp and feel continuouslyMust be able to stoop and bend occasionallyMust be able to walk and stand occasionallyWORKING CONDITIONS Typical office working conditions Occasionally exposed to heatcold dust noise and welding fumes when working in plant
