About the Role
We’re seeking a Lead Cloud Data Platform Engineer to join a high-performing team focused on building a modern hybrid data platform from the ground up. This role is part of a contingent resource assignment supporting strategic initiatives in Specialty Software Engineering. You’ll work on complex, large-scale challenges that require deep technical expertise, innovative thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Cloud Data Platform Engineer, you will:
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and automated data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Enable self-service data capabilities for ingestion, transformation, and distribution across big data applications.
- Automate data governance and observability using AI/agentic frameworks.
- Collaborate with principal engineers, product managers, and data engineers to deliver high-impact data solutions.
- Lead the migration of on-premises systems to a hybrid cloud environment (Google Cloud Azure).
- Develop reusable processes and tools that support analytics products and business decision-making.
- Drive innovation by adopting and evangelizing new technologies and frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in Specialty Software Engineering or equivalent (consulting, military, education).
- 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering using Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Google Cloud data tools.
- 3 years of experience with data lakehouse architecture, including Python, PySpark, Apache Kafka, Airflow, SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, DataProc, and Cloud Composer.
- 2 years of experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., columnar, graph, document, key-value stores).
- Cloud certifications such as Google Cloud Platform Professional Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, or AWS Specialty Data Analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience with cloud migration from on-prem to cloud-native environments.
- Deep knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, HDFS, Parquet, Iceberg, Delta Tables).
- Expertise in data warehouse and cloud architecture, pipeline orchestration, and governance automation.
- Familiarity with GenAI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph) for agent-based data capabilities.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Bonus: Web UI development experience using React and Node.js.
