About The Role The Principal Healthcare Data Analyst at Providence plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s Risk Adjustment strategy through expert data analysis and strategic insights. Serving as the primary technical resource and business liaison, the analyst collaborates closely with the Risk Adjustment and Data Analytics departments to develop tools, reports, and metrics that inform decision-making and optimize performance. This role requires a combination of advanced analytical skills, project management expertise, and process improvement methodologies to design evaluation plans, ensure data integrity, and support reporting initiatives. The Principal also mentors junior staff, leads team meetings, and maintains a deep understanding of healthcare trends, Risk Adjustment regulations, and data sources. Building strong relationships with internal leaders and external agencies is essential to align analytics efforts with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering/Physics, Accounting, Computer Science, or a highly quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of data analysis experience, or 12 years with a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in decision-level data analysis, with a proven track record of supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data, Risk Adjustment processes, and analytics methodologies.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in data visualization, reporting tools, and multiple data systems.

Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with Risk Adjustment leadership and staff to establish reporting priorities, allocate resources, and set project timelines.
  • Provide expert knowledge of Risk Adjustment models, methodologies, and outcomes to support organizational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to produce detailed reports and analyses that inform performance and financial strategies.
  • Develop and distribute complex operational reports utilizing multiple data sources and systems.
  • Support Finance and Risk Adjustment leadership with advanced analytics to enhance performance and optimize expected payments.
  • Stay current on healthcare trends, Risk Adjustment regulations, and analytic techniques to ensure compliance and innovation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal departments such as Actuarial, Network, Compliance, IS, Pharmacy, and external agencies including CMS and state regulators.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the analytics team.
