Laboratory and Software Development Intern
Requirements
Must have:
– I am currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or Computer Science (Bachelor’s acceptable; Master’s is a plus). – I have practical experience with C and Python, and I am familiar with LabVIEW and/or Java, as well as SQL (MS SQL/MySQL). – I possess a fundamental understanding of thermodynamics, refrigeration components, and control systems. – I can work on-site in Tallahassee during the academic year (~20 hours/week) and in the summer (~40 hours/week). – It would be advantageous to have hands-on experience in lab or engineering environments, exposure to MATLAB, and experience with data acquisition hardware.
Responsibilities:
- I will calibrate and document a vast inventory of lab instruments (e.g., temperature, pressure, flow, power/torque), revising procedures to ensure traceable, accurate records. – I will set up, configure, and troubleshoot sensors and data acquisition systems, performing safe and consistent hands-on lab work. – I will enhance and maintain test software/tools using C and Python (and LabVIEW/Java where applicable), adhering to Git version control practices. – I will automate data workflows by linking test outputs with SQL databases and generating clear, timely reports. – I will continuously improve lab processes by updating documentation, sharing insights, and complying with quality and EHS standards.
