About The Role The Principal Healthcare Data Analyst is a senior-level position responsible for leading analytical initiatives related to Risk Adjustment strategies within Providence Health Plan. This role acts as a primary technical resource and business liaison, working closely with both the Risk Adjustment and Data Analytics departments. The Principal will develop tools, metrics, and reports to support strategic decision-making, ensuring data accuracy and actionable insights. They will oversee project management activities, utilize advanced analytical techniques, and mentor junior staff and analysts. Maintaining a strong understanding of healthcare trends, regulatory changes, and analytic methodologies is essential to drive performance and compliance. The role also involves building relationships with internal leaders across departments such as Actuarial, Network, Compliance, and Finance, as well as external agencies like CMS and the State health departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a highly quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering/Physics, Accounting, or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 10 years of data analysis experience, or High School diploma/equivalent with at least 12 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in data analysis at a decision-making level within a healthcare or related organization.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with leadership and technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with Risk Adjustment leadership and staff to establish analytics priorities, secure resources, and set project timelines.
- Provide in-depth understanding of Risk Adjustment processes, models, and methodologies to support strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to produce comprehensive reports and analyses that inform leadership decision-making.
- Offer advanced analytical support to Finance and Risk Adjustment leadership to optimize performance and expected payments.
- Organize, prepare, and distribute complex operational reports utilizing multiple data systems and sources.
- Stay current with healthcare trends, Risk Adjustment regulations, and analytic techniques to ensure compliance and innovation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and external agencies to facilitate data sharing and strategic partnerships.
- Mentor junior staff and analysts to develop their skills and ensure high-quality deliverables.
