About The Role The Data Science Engineer at Turquoise Health plays a critical role in developing data-driven solutions to enhance healthcare pricing transparency. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and subject matter experts, to conceptualize, prototype, and implement sophisticated data solutions. The ideal candidate will connect disparate datasets—such as claims data, contract rates, and demographic information—to generate insights that benefit both internal teams and external stakeholders. You will apply industry-standard data science techniques and utilize various analytical toolkits to analyze complex data, communicate findings through comprehensive reports and visualizations, and contribute to building and maintaining robust data pipelines. Additionally, this role involves drafting technical documentation, gathering feedback from internal customers, and iterating quickly to deliver value-driven solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence healthcare pricing transparency at a national level while working in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/knowledge; we welcome strong candidates with non-traditional educational backgrounds
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience developing data models, pipelines, and end-to-end analytical solutions using Python and SQL
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and engineering practices, including ETL/ELT workflows, orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt), and cloud storage solutions (e.g., S3, Redshift)
  • Solid foundation in analytics and machine learning fundamentals
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to visualize and explain complex data insights to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks aligned with evolving business needs
  • Comfortable working remotely within a collaborative, technical team environment

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product teams and subject matter experts to design, prototype, and develop scalable data solutions
  • Integrate and connect multiple datasets, such as claims, contract rates, and demographic data, to support analytical and operational needs
  • Apply advanced data science techniques and industry-standard toolkits to analyze data and generate actionable insights
  • Create and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality, reliability, and efficiency
  • Develop and update technical documentation for data processes, models, and solutions
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders to refine data products and solutions
  • Iterate rapidly on data models and solutions, focusing on delivering measurable value
  • Communicate complex data insights through reports, dashboards, and visualizations tailored to various audiences
